The pandemic has caused us all to be cooped up in our houses for way too long. Kids have a lot of energy to burn and parents are also looking for new ways to entertain and educate their children. As restrictions continue to be lifted, more businesses and activities can begin operating again. This means there are more opportunities to get your kids involved in activities around the community. Keep reading to learn more about what Renfrew has to offer for your little ones this summer.

Renfrew Public Library

It’s important to continue to expand your knowledge throughout the summer. Reading new books is a great way to do this. The Renfrew Public Library is offering their annual TD Summer Reading Club. The program launched on June 15th and will continue until August 21st. This program is a great way for kids to get excited about reading and be introduced to a new hobby. It will be offered online through the ReadSquared Platform and is for children between the ages of 2-12.

Parks & Recreation

Day camps are a great way for kids to meet new friends, get out of the house and most importantly, have fun! Renfrew Parks and Recreation is operating their day camps again this summer. Registration for the July camps began on June 15th, so if you are interested be sure to register soon as spaces are limited. There are a variety of different themes for these camps such as art, gymnastics, nature, STEM, and more! This will allow for kids to practice and learn a new skill or hobby. More information about August day camps will be posted later, so follow the Parks and Recreation Facebook page to stay updated.

In addition, June is Recreation and Parks Month. On Facebook, Parks and Recreation has been posting daily activities to help you stay active and entertained this month. This is a great way to keep all of your family members busy. Here is a look at the June calendar, however, you can start these activities on any day or even create your own calendar!

The weather this summer is going to be very hot! If your kids are looking for a way to cool off, the Splash Pad has reopened. It will be open 8am – 8pm for the remainder of the season. Remember to practice social distancing and be aware of group sizes.

If you have a child who plays soccer or is interested in learning more about the sport, Challenger Sports is hosting a soccer camp at Ma-te-way Park. The camps will be throughout August, however, if you register early you can receive a discount. You can click this link to find out more:
